A message from our Coach, Tim Reyes:

 

Hello Parents!
 
My goal is to help our children maintain an active lifestyle by introducing them to achievable milestones leading up to 100 miles! The reward for running the first 25 miles is the 100 Mile Club T-Shirt, ending with their 100 Mile Club medal. We'll also have an Achievement Chart displaying their progress in the gym's lobby.
 
I would like to thank all 2018-19 Volunteers whom have signed up to help out with the 100 Mile Club for the upcoming school year at Beacon Park! If there are any changes, please let me know ASAP!

The 100 Mile Club should happen 3 days a week consecutively throughout the year for children to reach 100 Miles. If you are interested in helping out 1x day a week, please visit the link below and sign up!
 
 
 
Coaching Description:
 
Join the 100 Mile Club team as a COACH! Individual scanners will be provided for you to manage and upload. Sign up to coach for 1st Semester (Aug-Dec), 2nd Semester (Jan-May) or Both. Choose a slot that works best for your schedule: Monday through Friday, AM (7:30-8:00) or PM (2:30-3:30, except Wednesday 1:30-2:30). No running experience necessary.

What is the 100 Mile Club?

Our sole purpose is to improve the health and well-being of children at school through daily physical activity in a non-competitive, supportive, and fully-inclusive environment.

Weekly Meets at the Beacon Park School Field:

  • Mondays: 2:30-3:30 PM
  • Wednesdays: 1:30-2:30 PM


Our first meet will be on Wednesday, August 29 at 1:30pm. Please note that children are not expected to run the entire hour. They will be encouraged to run at their own paces. Each lap around the field is 0.25 miles, so each mile equates to 4 laps.

 

Meet Procedures:

 

- Have your child check-in next to the big tree adjacent to the playground. Rainbow Rising: Students will join the 100 Mile Club directly after school.


- For each lap, your child will be scanned. 4 laps around the field equals 1 mile.


- After your child has finished running for the day, have them go back to the check-in area.

Rainbow Rising: Students will get dropped off at Rainbow Rising after the meet.


- Runners can keep track of their miles by viewing the Achievement Chart in the gym's lobby.


- When mile-stones are met, hurray!

Jeffrey Trail Run

 

The 100 Mile Club from multiple schools in Irvine get together and run the trail for 1 hour each month. This is a great time to add mileage, meet our neighboring runners, and have fun!

Want to add some extra mileage in the mix? The 100 Mile Club at Beacon Park School will allow you add mileage by participating in races. Please check back throughout the year for updated events!

If you sign up and run the race, please bring your running bib and medal, or a picture of you holding them, to the next meet. We’ll add it in with your regular mileage. Please note that I may not be there with you, so adult supervision or participation is required!

High Temperature Information:

 

 

1. Are meets cancelled due to heat?

If Irvine declares an 'excessive heat warning' or the temperature reaches 88°F (31°C), we will request to run in the school gym. If the gym is occupied, the meet will be cancelled.

2. Should I bring a water bottle?

It's recommended to bring your own water. Water and cups may also be donated, but they aren't provided automatically. If water donations run dry, there are fountains located next to the field. If you're interested in donating water, please contact our Water Helpers!

3. What should my child wear to meets?

Typically children wear their school clothes to the running club. Although sneakers are preferred, they are not required. I'd recommend bringing sunscreen during the hotter months, as there is little shade on the field.
